  3. Proposal My proposal (like many of those in Hidden Developers, I think) is to revert back to to the distributed help channels which have been merged into #help Why Before this merging of the channels, I for one have seen that the help channels were one of the most clean, disciplined and productive channels on Hidden Developers (Moderators, excuse me if I'm wrong but, it's either the truth or you moderate very well, either way, it was in the end well maintained). Not only have this distribution of channels been very helpful to new and budding developers, it has also been a great

  4. It's been a good amount of days since #scripter-help's going-off-topic pass has been revoked and we have had (and still do) multiple people opposing the same, i thought it'd be a good idea to make a topic about it and hopefully get it back . Arguments I'd like to address that have led to this change: Toxicity: This point, I must say, is one I oppose with all my heart. Toxicity in #scripter-help has always been there (though I believe it isn't a lot) and will stay there, just like all the another channels in the whole server I believe this "toxicity" is said to be visible when some pe

  7. Why am I petitioning? I've noticed with some applications they are declined overs terms that are unlikely. Such as being called "basic", or "anyone can do it". Not all Application Readers even possess the skill they are judging for others to be known for it. To obtain a role you must be able to complete that roles task, not based on "if others can do it" Skills are not advanced, some skill is harder to have than other, though your work is not based on "if it's advanced in that skill" it's if you have the ability. Depth! It should not be the determination of the

  8. Nobody likes being scammed. Here's some ways to prevent it: Section 1: Buyer Tips 1. DO NOT Pay Upfront This is a BIG mistake. Paying any% upfront puts you in a terrible position if your seller doesn't plan on selling anything. Instead, pay *after* you're 100% sure the product is finished. If your seller actually makes your product, chances are, they won't steal your money (They'd be wasting their own time!). 2. DO Ask for Updates It's a great idea to ask for updates time-to-time to make your your vendor is working. Not only does it ensure your time isn't being waste

  9. Purpose Fix the roles hierarchy. Reason After the recent updates on the Hidden Developer's Discord server, one can see that the Verified role is placed above roles that denote some ranks, such as Silver I and some others I cannot currently remember. I suggest that this hierarchy be fixed as when it comes to your reputation in Hidden Developer's, your experience, how trusted you are and many such criteria's, the color of your name itself plays a lot of importance, which is currently undermined thanks to this weird hierarchy. Below is a gif showing you how wrong the hierarchy is: https:/

  12. Some people don’t like being pinged and sometimes during events/mass announcements we get quite a lot of it. That’s why I think that we should have a @Ping role in the Discord server. Pros: - Only a selected group of people gets pinged instead of the whole server - People won’t get annoyed with the constant @everyone/@here - When they don’t want to be pinged for some reasons, they can always leave the role - No need to worry about pinging 4K members. Cons: - An extra role to VirtuallyGFX’s collection of roles - Some people may forget to joi

  14. Just logging this and making a motivational message. What just happened to Hidden Developers was catastrophic. It's horrible to see all the hard work we have to put in this group is half gone. Our staff learned to not trust a lot of people now. Internships will be a lot longer. Security will be stronger. This has helped us in many ways. We will just have to strive to get our group back on the road to success.

  18. Once you've set up a Server on Discord you're going to see this page when in Server Settings: When creating new roles you have to take into consideration the easiest way to set them up. Some noobie mistakes: Adding useless permissions to every rank when it's already given to the user. Disabling a permission which is granted again by a different role. Being too lazy to fix your permissions (we've all been there). When creating a role I would suggest having most of the basic user permissions set up on the @everyone role so if you're in a situation where y

  20. I use math.noise to create the animation in the attached gif. The equation I used was simple: local a = rtime * (2 * (.55 + math.noise((i%50)/12,((i-i%50)/50)/12,.35235))) / 6 where a is the alpha that defines the position in the transition and i is the index number for the specific frame. The potential that people don't see in math.noise is that you can create a flow of random numbers that fluctuate between -1 and 1. You can create some nice gui transitions, fire, or even particle effects with math.noise. It's all about how you utilize it.

  21. Just and idea, to help fix the problem so many people having conversations in hiring-chat and selling-chat, I suggest that there should be a new prune command for discord moderators. The prune command would be the same as the normal one but remove every post EXCEPT from posts using the template, this could be done by sticking a keyword in the template. Obviously this won't fix every problem but it will help the discord but it will make it easier

This also applies to Scam Reports and Ban Reports to protect users privacy, content, source code, and more. This will also help members keep track of their applications they have submitted. Cheers, - Zach

If you are checking out free modeled unions, take them apart, see how they are made. Free models can be very helpful when we want to enhance our current abilities. 2. Studio plug-in building tools. So, I've decided to compile a list of useful plugins along with a useful tutorial so that I can reference this post rather than repeatedly explaining it. Plugins: I've found builders tend to stick with the first plugins they use. Old habits die hard. These are the best tools you can have in Studio and learning your way around them and all the tricks involved will allow you to do ANYTHING your heart desires. Games with Filtering Enabled, don't have access to a lot of things on the client side, so we have to use remote events to tell the server when to do something, like change a name of a text button! If you want more information, try checking out ROBLOX's article here First, let's create a remote event in replicated storage: Now, let's create a local script, and put it in StarterGui: In this script, you would

  33. System messages are messages sent in the chat by a non-player user. For example, some games utilize this feature in having server messages, or tips. The use for system messages can range from a wide variety of things; allowing the server to send a message when a player kills someone, joins the game, or simply having randomize messages. In this tutorial, I will teach you how to setup these system messages from a local script, and how to call them from the server when using FilteringEnabled. Marketplace The website now has a marketplace thread for selling work and hiring users. This was long awaited and the old system using Discord was tested and worked but was very inefficient, burried other users posts, and was a haven for spammers. These threads will be the place to hire and sell after 06/09/2017 when the discord servers #hiring-chat and #selling-chat will be deleted.
